Is this a Painted Portrait?
This is one of the questions I'm asked most often, and the answer is both **yes and no.**
Each portrait begins as a carefully crafted photographic image, created with intentional lighting, posing, and composition. From there, the image becomes my canvas.
I spend hours individually refining every portrait using a combination of **digital painting techniques and traditional hand-painted artistry** to soften details, enhance light, shape form, and create the timeless, painterly quality that defines my work. Once the artwork is complete, it is professionally printed on museum-quality fine art media. Many portraits are then finished with **hand-painted oil embellishments**, adding depth, texture, and subtle brushwork so that no two pieces are ever exactly alike.
The result is not simply a photograph, nor is it a traditional oil painting created entirely on blank canvas. It is a **bespoke mixed-media heirloom portrait**—combining the precision of photography with the beauty and richness of both digital and traditional painting techniques to create artwork designed to be treasured for generations.
Each finished portrait is created individually by hand, making every piece truly one of a kind.
